General Rebuild Information

Over the life of a rack and pinion assembly, the combination of heat and normal wear & tear degrade seals and components. Even hard components can have wear, causing deterioration in performance and handling. Our rack rebuilding service will pinpoint issues with your current assembly and repair necessary components to get it functioning at peak performance. We don’t re-manufacture or mass-produce rack and pinions for resale.

Our rebuilding service includes inspecting every component, replacing every seal, and dyno testing after the rebuild is complete to ensure your rack is performing at its maximum potential.

Turn One rebuilds individual rack and pinions. We are NOT a mass-production rebuilding plant or bulk remanufacturer, and we don’t keep any racks in stock to sell. Our philosophy is simple: the product you send us is the product you get back (unless it has enough issues to warrant sourcing a new rack core).

What is included:
We service the rack core itself, performing a full tear-down, cleaning and inspection of all parts of the core. If we find anything concerning during these stages that would affect the performance of the rebuild, you are notified and given decision-making power as to how we should proceed. We polish all sealing surfaces, replace all seals, and function-test the rack on our purpose-build dyno machine to ensure the rack is working as it should be. The rack is then prepared for shipping, the valve is set to on-center position, and it is shipped back.

What is NOT included:
– We do not include new boots, tie rods, or bushings as part of the rebuild. If you know that you need to replace these components, we are happy to install them for you (minor additional costs may be applicable), but we recommend that you source the replacement parts ahead of time and include them with your rack core when you ship it to us.
– We do not perform any cosmetic work to the rack, like painting or powder coating.

Rebuilding Turnaround Timing

Turnaround is very dependent on the year/make/model of rack we are servicing, as well as the specific condition of the core we receive. We cannot guarantee any specific turnaround time. We work on racks in the order we receive them (expedited service being an exception) and try to turn every rack and pinion as fast as we can. It is best to contact us for the most up-to-date estimates of turnaround.

Expedited Turnaround Option

We recognize that some customers need their rack back as quickly as possible, which is why we provide an expedited turnaround service. This allows your rack rebuild to jump to the top of the line. Again, we cannot guarantee a specific turnaround with this service, just that it will be worked on faster and given a higher priority level. The exact turnaround will be dependent on the year/make/model and the condition of the core we receive.

Electric Rack & Pinions

We are currently unable to service any electrically-driven rack and pinion system, common to new vehicles 2013 and newer.
