Your Box In, Your Box Out

Over the life of a power steering box, components experience normal mechanical wear, leading to “sloppy” steering response. Other factors like prolonged heat issues will decrease the life of box components like seals, leading to leaking. Our box rebuilding service will pinpoint issues with your current steering box and repair necessary components to get it working normally again. We can even service our competitions boxes to improve feel and performance!

Most boxes can be upgraded from their factory configuration with customization options like a different steering ratios and/or different valves to change the “lightness” or “hardness” of the steering effort. For racers with finely-turned steering preferences, this is a great option to give you the exact feel you want on the track. Please contact us to verify that your box is serviceable, as there are select steering boxes that we are unable to work.

Our rebuilding service includes inspecting every component, replacing every seal, and dyno testing after the rebuild is complete to ensure your box is performing at its peak potential.

Turn One rebuilds individual steering boxes. We are NOT a mass-production rebuilding plant or bulk remanufacturer, and we don’t stock any rebuilt products. Our philosophy is simple: the product you send us is the product you get back (unless it has enough issues to warrant sourcing a new box core or a new box).

Base Costs

Standard Rebuild
Starts at $400
GM/Saginaw 700 and 600 steering boxes are considered standard rebuilds. This includes most GM boxes from the mid-60’s onward. Our rebuild process involves disassembly, thorough inspection of your box and all components, cleaning, and proper reassembly with a new seal kit. The standard rebuild includes maintaining your factory internals and factory pump settings. If you’re happy with your current pump, this is a great way to breathe new life and ensure it is functioning at top-notch.

Non-Standard Rebuild
Call for Pricing
We can accommodate other box manufactures and styles, however, this is somewhat case-dependent. Please call us in advance of completing the rebuild checkout to verify that we’re able to rebuild your box and the pricing associated with the rebuild. Due to the complexity and cost of components, some specific box styles are more expensive to rebuild.

Why the “starts at” cost?
The final cost can’t be determined until we actually get the box, dyno test it, and have it apart to inspect components. Obviously, some boxes may require new hard parts due to wear, pitting, or failure. We reuse as many components as we can to keep costs down. Ultimately, we care about the quality and performance of your box, so replacement parts may be required, which will affect the final cost of your rebuild.

Valve Adjustment
$300
If you’re looking to get a lighter or heavier steering effort out of your steering box, we can make valve adjustments during your rebuild to change the box effort and fine tune the desired steering feel.

Ratio Changes
$Variable
Turn One steering boxes, as well as some other steering boxes, can be rebuild and changed to provide different steering ratios for driver preference. If you’re interested in adjusting your box ratio, please contact us for availability and pricing.

Expedited Service
$200
We understand that sometimes you need your rebuild done, and fast. We offer expedited services, which moves your steering box to the top of our rebuild priority, so it’s worked on quicker. While this does prioritize the rebuild, we cannot guarantee a specific turnaround. Keep in mind that if the steering box needs additional work or replacement parts, it will add time to the rebuild process.

Turnaround Times

We do our best to process, test, inspect and rebuild your steering box as quickly as possible while maintaining quality standards throughout the process. Obviously, lead times can vary based the individual build requirements and unexpected factors such as random influxes in the quantity of rebuilds. For standard Saginaw steering boxes, our turnaround is typically within 2 weeks.
