Description
C5 Corvettes are one of our specialty vehicles at Turn One! We process more C5 racks than any other model. Whether your rack is gushing fluid, or you just want a “tune-up” for the upcoming race season, our rebuilding service will bring your rack back to its peak potential. Read more about our services below, and as always, if you have questions about our rebuilding services or process, please contact us.
C5 Corvette Rack & Pinions (1997-2004)
We are able to service all years of the C5 generation. As part of the rebuild, we do install new boots on the rack and also take special care to seal the magnasteer wire area*, that is an area commonly prone to leaks. If you would like us to install new inner tie rods on the rack, we recommend sourcing those yourself ahead of time, and including them with your rack, and we will install the new inner tie rods during reassembly so your rack is drop-in ready. As with any rack, individual cores can have internal issues with hard parts such as damage, wear or pitting from oxidation. Fixing these types of issues is often critical to ensure the rack is rebuilt to OEM specifications, and fixes can influence the total cost of the rebuild. If we find any issues that will prevent us from getting your rack core to OEM specs, you will be notified and the issue will be addressed accordingly. Thankfully we have a plentiful stock of good used C5 rack parts so issues typically do not impact turnaround times.
*We cannot guarantee a perfect seal from the electromagnet “magnasteer” wire area, but we’ve had great success with our sealing process to improve or stop previous leaks and have a better-than-OEM track record of how this seal performs.
Expedite Service:
Our expedite service bumps your rebuild to the top of the priority list. We DO NOT guarantee a specific turnaround time for this service, as each individual rack can require a different amount of service. This does speed up the turnaround time from what your rack would have been under standard turnaround.
Please Follow the Checkout Process Below:
1) Complete our online checkout, where you pay an initial deposit for your rack rebuild. Please enter the year and model of your rack during checkout.
2) You will be issued a 4-digit order # after you complete the checkout (xxxx). Please make sure to either write this order # on the shipment package, OR include a printed paper with your shipment that shows the order #.
3) Ship us your rack & pinion however you would like. You can use your choice of shipping provider and packaging. Please make sure that your hose ports are capped and that no fluid is able to escape the rack during shipping. If possible, we also recommend removing the inner tie rods of the rack to help make it shorter and less expensive to ship, but this is not necessary if you don’t feel comfortable doing so. We do not technically need the inner tie rods or boots to complete the rebuild, but if you include the originals we will reinstall them for no additional charge.
4) If you know that you would like to (or need to) replace the inner tie rods or the boots (if they are ripped), we recommend purchasing these ahead of time yourself and including with your rack shipment. We will install new boots & tie rods for no additional cost and send back the assembled rack. New tie rods and boots are NOT included as part of our rebuilding service.
5) Make sure to leave the high pressure hard lines attached to the rack (they connect the valve housing to the rack tube). We need these with the rack in order to properly dyno test your rack after rebuild.
6) Ship it!
