There may be surface rust, oxidation, paint chipping, etc, on the outside surfaces. Also, the passenger side mounting bushing is not included to give our customers flexibility in choosing their desired bushing style.

Q&A

How will the quick ratio make my car feel? 

The upgrade changes the gearset within your rack so that as you turn the steering wheel, the rack moves at a faster rate. This speeds up your in-car steering ratio from the factory 16:1 to about 11:1. Quickening the steering ratio is generally preferred in more performance-oriented driving situations like track driving, autocross, and drifting. However, this is entirely at the preference of the driver.

What is magnasteer?

Magnasteer is a common name for a GM valve design that incorporates an electromagnet on the valve. This electromagnet receives a positive or negative charge based on vehicle speed. At speeds below 45 mph, the steering gets progressively lighter. At speeds higher than 45 mph, the steering gets progressively heavier.

What happens if I choose to delete magnasteer?

The electromagnet will no longer be making assist changes as you drive, so the rack valve will feel the same, no matter the vehicle speed. If you aren’t sure if you’ll like this or not, try driving and cornering your Corvette at exactly 45 mpg. This is the speed at which the magnasteer is not active, so this will be your steering effort all the time if you choose to delete it.

Why do some drivers choose to delete magnasteer?

Usually for one of two reasons. First, the wire entry into the rack housing is a common leak point, so some drivers are sick of their rack leaking and want to seal that hole up. When we do a full magnasteer delete, we plug the rack internally to completely stop leaks. Second, some drivers don’t like to have their steering assist change as they drive. Instead of having the wheel feel light at low speeds and heavy and high speeds, they want a single, consistent steering wheel feel all the time.

Does upgrading to the quick ratio change how magnasteer works?

No. The quick ratio changes still allow magnasteer to function. You do have the option to delete magnasteer on the quick ratio upgrade if you want.
